Umut İlkaya, professionally known as Umutdxb, is a Turkish travel content creator, filmmaker and licensed drone pilot based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Through Umutdxb, he documents personally visited hidden gems, luxury hotels, restaurants, cultural destinations and outdoor experiences across all seven Emirates.
About Umut İlkaya
With more than ten years living in the UAE and a background in tourism and hospitality, Umut combines local knowledge with cinematic storytelling to make travel guides that are useful before they are beautiful. He photographs and films the places he writes about himself — the guides here come from visits, not from press kits — and works with hotels, resorts and tourism organisations across the Emirates.
The story behind Umutdxb
Umutdxb is the professional name Umut İlkaya publishes under, and the name of this publication. The two are the same person and the same brand: Umutdxb is the UAE travel guide, and Umut İlkaya is the person who makes it. Every article is written, visited and photographed by him.
My goal is to help residents and visitors discover the UAE beyond the familiar landmarks — from luxury hotels and cultural destinations to mountain villages, coastal escapes and places worth the drive. Every guide is based on personal exploration, original visuals and first-hand storytelling.
Exploring all seven Emirates
Umutdxb covers Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain, with an emphasis on the places most visitors never reach: the east coast towns on the Gulf of Oman, the mountain exclave of Hatta, the mangroves of Umm Al Quwain and the islands off Abu Dhabi. As a Dubai-based travel content creator and filmmaker, I collaborate with hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism boards and lifestyle brands to produce authentic, visually refined content. My work combines social media storytelling, cinematic video, original photography and licensed aerial filming to present each destination through a distinctive first-hand perspective.
Hosted stays and paid partnerships are always disclosed on the article itself, and a partnership never buys a positive verdict — see the editorial policy. Larger productions run with professional support through Sortie Media, a DCAA and GCAA permitted drone operator.
